100% Cabernet Franc from the Foxcroft vineyard, de-stemmed and crushed prior to fermentation with natural yeasts and 18-months élevage in 225L neutral French oak barrels. After an initial whiff of the farmyard on the nose, aromas of blackberry, cherry, green pepper, and spearmint come forward. On the palate, the wine opens to a swath of blue and black fruits, a full mid-palate showing a seam of Cab Franc’s herbaceous character and a solid finish with balanced acidity. The wine has solid tannins and an aging potential of 7 to 10 years of improvement. If opened earlier, will be better on day 2, or a long decant is recommended to experience the full profile and flavor of the wine. It benefits from pairing with food to bring out the full complexity of the wine, particularly red meats.

Fully dry, 13.5% abv., 120 cases produced.

Independent Wine Reviews

Leah Spooner, @the_winepress [93 points] — A powerful Cabernet Franc from the Foxcroft Vineyard on the Twenty Mile Bench sub-appellation of Niagara. Presenting its perfumed, cool-climate nose of vanilla, red cherries, wildflowers, green and black pepper. The palate exhibits a core of dark fruit, wrapped in woodsy, leather, and anise notes. An enthralling, goosebump inducing tension and velcro-like tannins with a long finish. Built to age.  (March 2022)

Rick VanSickle, Wines In Niagara [91 points] — It was back to Foxcroft for this Cab Franc that has an earthy, slightly reductive nose followed by earthy red berries, herbs, anise, and savoury spices. There are some earthy/smoky notes on the palate with an array of wild berries, anise, stewed herbs, medium+ tannins and enticing spice notes on the lifted finish. (September 2022)
