Independent Wine Reviews

David Lawrason – 93 points, Value Rating: 4/5

This is the longer-aged brother of the 2022 that won a Platinum atthe National Wine Awards. Just a different barrel, that includes some new French oak, and an extra year of bottle age (20 month in total) that perhaps calms the nerves. It pours fairly deep ruby-purple. The nose shows lovely lift and penetration with violet, raspberry/red plum, fine spicing, and classic franc tobacco and subtle herbs. It is medium weight, glossy and elegant but driven by great acidity and warmth. Tannins are fine yet firm. The length is excellent to outstanding. Best now through early 2030s. Tasted Feb 2026.

Michael Godel – 92 points, Value Rating: 4/5

First look at a Reserve in cabernet franc from Black Bank Hill, as expected of deeper hue, cached concentration and longer barrel aging for a seriously smooth and luxe edition. Silken fruit, sweetness of acidity and a rarity, of less than 600 bottles produced. The acidity does what needs although just that extra spark of energy would put this cabernet franc in an elite leaguefor Ontario. Drink 2026-2029. Tasted February 2026

Sara d'Amato – 92 points, Value Rating: 4/5

An ample, silky, concentrated expression of cabernet franc with a generousaromatic profile. The palate carries a certain glossy opulence, yet a firm thread of acidity keeps it composed and upright. Fermented spontaneously and aged for 20 months in French oak (one new barrel, one second-fill), contributing subtle oak spice. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, and drawn from just two barrels, this is a small-production wine with both polish and presence. Tasted February 2026.
