Varietals, Vineyard & Harvest: 100% chenin blanc, grown and hand-harvested at Black Bank Hill on October 7 and 12, 2023 at 21.1 and 20.4 brix respectively.

Winemaking: Half the grapes for this wine were whole bunch pressed into neutral French oak barrels and half were de-stemmed and lightly crushed prior to pressing into steel tank.  Both were fermented using wild/ambient yeasts. Élevage was 19-months on lees in same French oak for the barrel fermented wines, with slightly less élevage in neutral French oak for the tank fermented wine. The wine was blended and estate-bottled on 18 June 2025.

Wine Description: Pale lemon colour. Aromas of apple, lime, beeswax and honeysuckle.  The palate continues with granny-smith, pear, jasmine and a saline, mineral finish. Medium-minus in body with high and refreshing acidity, the wine shows a textured mid-palate and very good intensity and concentration through the finish.

Acidity & pH: TA 8.72 g/L, Malic acid 2.59 g/L, pH 3.21

Sweetness: Extra-dry on the palate containing 1.1 g/L residual sugar

Independent Wine Reviews

David Lawrason – 90 points, Value Rating: 4/5

From young estate vines this was fermented in barrel and tank and aged 19 months in neutral French oak. It is notable how well the young vine chenin fruit stands in with the oak treatment here - typical pear/quince, some linden the lightly bready, spicy barrel notes. It is light to medium bodied, firm and almost crisp, with a slim feel then a tart, slightly sour-edged, mouthwatering and mineral finish. A hint of sweetness (1.1gms RS) relaxes the finish a bit. The length is very good to excellent. Tasted March 2026.

Megha Jandhyala, DipWSET – 89 points, Value Rating: 4/5

Slightly woody and resinous at first, this chenin blanc then displays flavours of poached apples, peaches, and nectarines. The palate is medium bodied, fleshy, and firm - the acidity bolsters the sensation of richness here. I like the focus, and structural integrity of this wine as also, the long, fruity finish. Tasted March 2026
